Every place on Earth keeps time as an offset from UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). Dhaka runs at UTC+6 all year, London moves between UTC+0 and UTC+1, and New York between UTC−5 and UTC−4, because many countries shift their clocks for daylight saving time in summer. That is why the gap between two cities is not fixed: Dhaka is 11 hours ahead of New York in winter, when New York is on standard time, and 10 hours ahead in summer, when New York springs forward for daylight saving.
WorldTimeIO does every conversion with your browser's built-in time zone database — the same one your phone and computer use — so DST changes are applied automatically for the exact date you pick, past or future. Nothing you enter leaves your device.
Planning a call across time zones? Set the two cities in the converter above and check the meeting planner: it colours each hour so you can spot the overlap where both sides are within working hours, instead of doing the maths in your head.
Dhaka (UTC+6) is 11 hours ahead of New York during US standard time and 10 hours ahead during US daylight saving time (roughly March to November). So 6:00 PM in Dhaka is 7:00 AM the same day in New York in winter, and 8:00 AM in summer. Use the converter above for the exact difference on any date.
Yes. Conversions use the full IANA time zone rules for the date you select, so if a city is on daylight saving time on that date, the result already includes it. The UTC offset shown on each clock card is the offset in force right now.
When the time difference crosses midnight, the result falls on the previous or next calendar day. For example, 9:00 AM Monday in Tokyo is 7:00 PM Sunday in New York. The converter marks this with a “previous day” or “next day” label so there is no confusion.
